The Clan MacBean

badgeINVITATION TO OUR 2018 CLAN GATHERING

As you may know, our Clan tries very hard to hold a Clan Gathering somewhere every four years.  Consequently there have been eleven “quadrennial” clan gatherings since the MacBean clan association first stood-up in its “modern” configuration. The first was at Lincoln, Nebraska, in the summer of 1967 and our last gathering was on the marvelous beach at Ventura, California, in October of 2014.  Now we are holding our 12th Gathering at the wonderful Stone Mountain Inn, in the fabulous park by the same name, located just to the northeast of Atlanta, Georgia. Our Gathering will be coincident with the Stone Mountain Highland Games, one of the largest and most well attended games in the southeastern part of the United States.

In addition to the Gathering being a wonderful way to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, “cousins all”, it provides an opportunity for you to find out what is going on in your clan association and to learn who is doing what, any why.  Most importantly we hold a General Meeting to conduct business and elect members of our Board of Directors in accordance with our by-laws.  It is also a great opportunity for to meet our Clan Chief and his family and get to know them personally if you have not done so heretofore.

Our Organizer for the 12th Gathering is Ms. Amber Griffin, who is also the Editor and Publisher of our clan’s periodical, the Register.  In addition to the serious business, Amber has arranged for some wonderful social events, from a formal dinner with requisite pomp and circumstance, to a wonderful informal southern barbecue dinner by the hotel’s pool.  You are going to love it- I guarantee (as they say in the South)!

And don’t forget on Saturday to participate with the Clan in events at the Sone Mountain Highland Games, and “sit a spell” at the great MacBean Clan Tent being organized by Billy McBee, our Region 12 Commissioner, and take a look at the authentic  MacBean “Moon Tartan”, which will be on display.

All the info you need and the Registration Form is with the letter.  Y’all come!

McBain Memorial Park Donations

Since the 1960’s when Hughston McBain of McBain 21st hereditary Chief of Clan MacBean/McBain  designed and built McBain Park, this public gathering spot has been the location of birthday parties, weddings, and the like.  It also engenders that very special feeling one gets when standing of the ground of your forefathers.  Maintenance for the park has always been paid by the Chief of Clan McBain.  However with the recent theft of the plaque we need your help to keep the park a place all can be proud of.

Even the smallest gift makes a difference. Donate online; make the McBain Park part of your charitable plan. Make a donation today click on the button at the bottom of the page.
